About me - the woman behind 'She who can't be Autistic'

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my first ever blog! Although very exciting also somewhat terrifying all at the same time, especially on such a personal subject...

The main purpose for writing this blog is to help raise awareness of AUTISM, along with providing myself with an outlet to express my emotion's on this journey of discovery that I am continuing to go through.

So 'She who can't be autistic' is myself Lisa Jane Elderfield, a 40 year old woman, who on the surface appears to be quite a successful, happy and ordinary woman (OK, lol ordinary / average / normal) maybe a stretch to far!! but I guess what I am trying to say is that I am a White, British woman who is married to my husband, Mark whom with we have two beautiful children, we own our house and live in Wiltshire, South West of England.  I also have my own business, where I work as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Construction Industry.  So what's her problem, she has it all I hear you say, what could she possibly have to say about Autism....

So my story is somewhat of a long one, which I will share with you in stages, as there is far to much to share in one go, but ultimately I now identify as a self diagnosed autistic woman, who also has two professionally diagnosed children of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).  How I  have grown to hate this terminology!! but this is not the time for why, I will go into this another time!..

The start of my self discovery started both during the diagnosis phase of my daughter, who is now 9 years old, she was 7 when she was diagnosed, and at a time when I decided to stop drinking alcohol for a temporary amount of time.....
